I found a link to an ordination name generator in an old post at SlowZen... Again. Thanks, Jordan!

Mines "Prince Ever Demon". Meet you in the World of Warcraft!
ReplyDeleteYeah, this little widget is sort of Dogen and Dragons, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteMy buddhist name is Great Teacher Mother Brightness. Kind of nice to think I could be a mom in my next life. I think I'll have a nice cup of Zen tea now and relax.
ReplyDeleteYeah, What happened to the good names like Rice Bag, or Skin Sack?
ReplyDeleteVery good question. Seems to me Bashō called himself Travel-Worn Satchel. I think you're onto something there: the real heavyweights have the self-deprecating names.
ReplyDeletemine is "The Boy Golden Name". Wa??? I always thought I was a Golden Girl.
ReplyDeleteWa??? is right. First I put in only my first name and it said mine is "The Girl Ever Constellation" Figure that one out.
ReplyDeleteThen I put in both first and last names and got: "Great Teacher Golden Brightness". Getting better eh?
Next my first, middle and last name and: "King Wind Truth" Starting to like this.
I think some of these names are for a life already lived, or maybe not yet lived. (Or in your case, three lives.) Hence the gender whimsy. I have no idea what logarithm they use for this, but it's pretty random.
ReplyDelete'Queen Infinite Treasure' for first and last name, but 'King Pervading Pervading Suffering' for first name only - mhmhm....
ReplyDeleteOk....as though I did not get enough 'Zen' from your post from last week that I stumbled in upon, I spotted this and had to play.....and how apropos it was!
ReplyDeleteMine is 'Tripitaka Master Dharma Holder Pure'! LOL.
I guess I'll stick THAT in my pipe and smoke it!
