  2. Oh, she's definitely still active, and will definitely erupt again. At which time much of the overdeveloped Puget Sound basin is going to experience a sharp drop in real estate values. (The last notable activity on Rainier was in the early 19th century, shortly before large-scale settlement began. If that event happened today it would wipe out several towns and significantly damage many more, including a major metropolis. And that was a small event.)

  3. Your part of the world looks like NZ scenery, right down to the volcanoes! Mt Taranaki is just down the road and it's still active, too.
